The new black and red kit is strikingly similar to the popular dark blue away kit of the past two seasons, and becomes the first time City have ever played in a black shirt. The new shirt is made by Uhlsport and sponsored by Sports TV, the same sponsor as previous years.
The Imps wore the shirts in three 30 minute friendly thirds against Grimsby Town this afternoon. The Mariners ran out 1-0 winners in the penultimate meaningless pre season work out with Omari Coleman and Derek Asamoah both spurning good efforts. Town ran out victors thanks to a 20 yard Andy Parkinson strike, just the third goal City have conceded in the pre season campaign. Tomorrow the side travel to Hucknall Town as part of the Danny Bacon transfer, and then its on to real business against Northampton on August 4th.
