Richardson handed unjust three match ban

Banned - Richardson

The big striker was unduly dismissed in the final minute for an 'elbow' aimed at Chesters Darren Collins. Despite protesting his innocence incompetent referee Mick Fletcher chose to send him off, forcing the FA to hand him a three match ban for violent conduct.

He will miss clashes with Doncaster tomorrow night in the LDV Vans trophy, the league trip to Field Mill to face Mansfield Town and the home clash with struggling Kidderminster Harriers.

Keith Alexander wasn't about to codemn his forward. "I'm looking at Marcus challenging and I've seen nothing untoward there."

He paid tribute to Marcus following the ban. "Marcus is a player who hasn't given me any trouble on or off the field and if he challenge then it is an honest fair and genuine challenge. I think he's been hard done to by another poor refereeing decision."
The villain of the hour: Fletcher

The Imps have been on the recieving end of some terrible decisions this season. Wayne Gray never had the ball under control before Alan Marriott cleared it into the stands against Southend, but still they conceded a penalty. Against Birmingham Maik Taylor clearly handballed outside his area, and this was followed by Jesper Gronkjaer admitting he handled the ball in the build up to Brum's first goal. Last season George Cain made the catastrophic error of awarding a goal to Huddersfields Pawel Abbott when the striker was at least 25 yards offside.

It still matters not as Richardson begins his spell on the sidelines after only just coming back from injury.
